I live on the coast of North Carolina with my husband where we raised 5 children.We are currently building a second home in beautiful Beaufort, South Carolina. 

I became a Water Safety Instructor Trainer for the American Red Cross in the early 90’s, and have taught thousands of children how to swim. Drowning is preventable, and I am passionate about teaching children to swim and be safe around water.  For this reason, people refer to me as “The Swim Lady”.
 
When I received a call from a neighborhood family that tragically lost a twin to drowning in the summer of 2009,  I immediately decided to certify as an Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) instructor, if only to give survival skills to that family’s other child.

I became a Certified ISR instructor in 2010 and an ISR Master Instructor in 2016.  I am blessed to teach children to be safer in and around the water, and to train instructors from other communities thereby reaching even more children and providing them skills in case of aquatic emergencies.  I also teach CPR/AED/First Aid through the American Heart Association. Additionally, I have certifications as a Life Guard Instructor (LGI) and Certified Pool Operator (CPO). 
 
When not in the water, I love to travel and spend time with my family, friends and my grandbaby.
